Jenna Applegarth & Jon Tigert

Jenna Applegarth

Jenna first started dancing when she was still in diapers. She began swing dancing some many years later, luckily no longer in diapers. Jenna continues to expand her dancing repertoire and share her love and knowledge of these dances with others. Although she enjoys pretty much any type of dancing and music you can move to, her first love is Lindy Hop. Her energy and passion create the perfect environment for learning, creating challenging yet applicable lessons.

Jenna has attended, coordinated, and taught various workshops and exchanges all across the globe. Some of her favorite highlights are performing at Benaroya Hall in The Jump Session Show and teaching for Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing. Above all else she believes that learning to dance should be fun. With over 10 years of teaching/coaching experience, she loves finding new ways to connect with other dancers on the floor and in the classroom.

Shauna Marble & Tyson Roehrkasse

Shauna Marble

Shauna is a fun and energetic dancer known especially for her teaching skills. Her attention to detail is unmatched, and she has a deep understanding of the concepts, movements, and patterns of the dance – which she should after recently celebrating her 21st Lindy Hopiversary! She knew Frankie Manning and has lived in the dance scene since it’s 80’s revival. Shauna is widely known as a great instructor, and in her hometown boasts over 40 troupe members outside of her regularly packed classes. In addition to being a champion dancer, Shauna has her renowned Lindy Hop curriculum online for free, which is used all over the world (Egypt, China, Argentina, England, Spain, and more are using Lindy Ladder!). She and her local teaching partner Joe DeMers recently taught for a Tedx convention in Denver to showcase youth curriculum in swing dance. She’s also a teenager at heart, so come say hey and hang out, and she’ll be happy you’re doing the dance that she still loves so much.

Katie Leatherberry & Gary Grimm

Katie Leatherberry

Katie first fell in love with dancing when she joined a historic ballroom dance group 10 years ago. As she danced her way through centuries of partnered and group dances, she discovered the joys of connecting with others through music. While she still loves a good waltz, polka, or quadrille, it is the dances of the jazz age that truly embody the exuberant joy and freedom of creative expression that Katie experiences while dancing.

In 2011 Katie started devoting most of her time to learning the ins and outs of Lindy Hop, Charleston, and Balboa. It was shortly thereafter that she started to travel and compete, in addition to teaching these dances to others. More recently, she has partnered up with Gary Grimm to practice, compete, and teach Lindy Hop and one of her new favorite dances, St. Louis Shag.

Gary Grimm

Gary Grimm started dancing in 2011 at Truman State University. Since then Gary has traveled to events across the United States to learn and compete. He has dabbled in Lindy, Charleston, St. Louis Shag, Balboa, and Blues and highly values dancing in a way that reflects the music being played.

Gary started teaching weekly classes to beginners in 2012 at Truman State University with the University Swingers and he started competing and teaching with Katie Leatherberry in 2016 making finals in the Nevermore St. Louis Shag competition in 2016. He is extremely excited to share his knowledge with you.
